Simply Intimate Valentine’s Day Dates For 2023

Valentine’s Day is my second favorite holiday, but that’s because Christmas is my first and that whole season is just hard to beat. Valentine’s Day is also my birthday!

I don’t have to tell you that going out to dinner ANYWHERE on V-Day will have you waiting outside or worse, stuffed inside the tiny restaurant lobby with dozens of others. If you’re like me… that’s the last thing you want when trying to enjoy an intimate night out with your loved one.

Here is a list of Valentine’s Day date ideas that will keep you away from the crowds so you can enjoy the evening with your hunny even more.

#1 Cook a delicious dinner at home.

I know you’re probably rolling your eyes right now, but this is really the most intimate date you can have – at home, just you and your significant other. You can focus on each other rather than everything that could be going on around you in a crowded restaurant. Here are some elegant, yet easy recipes for your Valentine’s Day Date Night at Home:

Pan Seared Steak

Baked Salmon with Garlic and Dijon

Asparagus With Lemon Butter Sauce

Extra-Crispy Rosemary Garlic Potatoes

Chocolate Covered Strawberries – Cooking Classy

#2 Stroll through a local park together before heading home to enjoy a cocktail and movie.

#3 Sign up for a local “paint and sip”.

These are so fun even for those who don’t have much artistic ability like me. I’ve gone to quite a few and am always surprised by the result.

#4 Order delivery

So you can keep the intimate setting, but don’t have to worry about cleaning up the mess. Just because you order in, doesn’t mean it has to lessen the romantic mood. Forget the plastic utensils and foam containers – grab some paper plates, wine glasses, and paper towels and set the table (see example below!).

#5 Go out to dinner the weekend before or after Valentines Day.

Yes, there may still be crowds but I promise it won’t be as packed as the day of. If you’re local to Sacramento, I highly suggest The Melting Pot, Yard House, and II Fornaio.

#6 Take a cruise on the water.

If you’re local to Sacramento, enjoy a three course meal on Valentine’s Twilight Dinner Cruise | River City Queen

#7 Pack it up and take your hunny on a Valentines Day camping getaway!

I know this may not be the first option for some, but me and my partner love the outdoors. Pack up your romantic picnic and bring some candles (and extra layers if you’re going somewhere chilly).
